Delegate Dave Albo’s bill H.B. 278 requires proper treatment of deceased. You may remember a Washington Post article citing horrific conditions found in a local funeral home where bodies of deceased, some of them being veterans, were stacked unrefrigerated on top of each other for long periods of time. Delegate Albo immediately met with the directors of that funeral home requesting them to change their practices, and demanded action by the funeral home regulatory body. What we found was that there were no regulations on the matter. Delegate Albo’s bill requires refrigeration or embalming within 48 hours of receipt of the body.
