In October, the Fairfax County Department of Transportation conducted a Traffic Calming Study along Greeley Boulevard between Old Keene Mill Road and Rolling Road. Traffic calming is a series of measures taken to decrease the speed of cars traveling through an area. This can be done with stop signs, speed humps, etc. In order to qualify for a traffic calming program, the area must see 600-6000 vehicle traveling through it daily with the average speed of cars traveling at 30 mph.
The study showed that this area of Greeley Blvd met these criteria and therefore qualifies for the placement of a traffic calming program. At this point the FCDOT will now develop a conceptual plan for approval.
Hopefully these measures will increase safety along this residential road. I will update you when I hear of any more progress on this matter.
