ECHO (Ecumenical Community Helping Others) is a charity organization in the Springfield and Burke areas, aimed at helping those in need in our community. They are one of my favorite organizations because they do some much for our neighborhood and are made up of only volunteers! Not a single member receives wages for all the work they do! This week they released their annual report for 2011. This past year ECHO was able to offer assistance to 1,472 households, including 4,322 individual family members in the greater Springfield community! 350 individuals served as volunteers over the last year to help in these efforts. This group never ceases to amaze me in what they can accomplish. If you would like to donate or volunteer, please visit their website at www.echo-inc.org. Great work guys!
