Virginia’s Unemployment Rate

When Governor McDonnell ran for Governor, his focus was on creating jobs and strengthening our economy. The unemployment rate was 7.2% in February 2010 — that was the first full month of the administration. Since then, we have added 150,500 net new jobs. And in November of this year, Virginia’s unemployment rate fell to 5.6%, which is the lowest rate in the Southeast, and the second lowest rate east of the Mississippi River!
